I started Mark’s Lawn Service in 1991. I was working full time at another job but soon realized that I was limited on making any advances within the company. I have always enjoyed yard work and being outdoors. I decided to buy a lawn mower and set out to see if I could pick up any customers. My first account was a Kinder Care Learning Center. Soon after that I was mowing 6 Kinder Care Learning Centers. I began to realize that the potential for growing my business was endless. The harder I worked, the more I could grow and become more successful while doing so. Both my sons, Shane and Cole worked very hard along side of me to help grow the business and to get the business to where it is today.

In 1994 I registered my business with the state of Minnesota. I purchased an enclosed trailer and put my logo on it. I was on a mission. Each year the number of customers grew as did my business. I discovered that I was going to need a little help as I was growing. I employed my sons Shane, Cole, and Kevin to work with me and they helped a great deal. I purchased another enclosed trailer. I then hired a couple of their friends to work for me. We took great pride in the work that we did and that played a very important role in my success. I also believed in great customer service. Each and every customer is very important to me and I am extremely grateful for their business. In 2005 I became incorporated and My Business was then Mark’s Lawn Service, Inc. I am also a member of the Better Business Bureau.

Today I employ about 25 employees and manage over two hundred customers. I have a great customer base and it continues to grow. Some of my customers include Champps, Holiday Station Stores, Perkins Restaurants, Mills Automotive Group, Mills Fleet Farms, and Goodyear, Memorial Blood Centers, about a dozen Town Home Associations several local churches, and also many residential customers. 

My son Cole went on to get his degree in landscape and design. He has been very successful in this field. He takes great pride in the work he does and also takes his time to make certain that the job is done right. He is very professional and continues to grow this business.

We are a full service company. We offer lawn maintenance including mowing, trimming, fertilizing, herbicide treatments, aerating, spring / fall clean ups and pruning of trees and shrubs. We also do irrigation start ups, winterization of systems, service and installs. We also provide parking lot sweeping, lot striping and winter snow removal services.

The landscaping includes design, installation, pavers, boulder walls, seeding, sod work, trees, shrubs, water features, plant materials, flowers, etc.
